Hermit = Sunburn

Hello people of the interwebs!

So yesterday was my cousin, Sara and her fiancé, Josh's wedding shower. It was a beautiful outdoor event. OH MY GOODNESS. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN.

Anywho... I don't venture out much... and I'm part Irish so my skin is pretty darn white. So, being my hermit self, I haven't been in the sun at all. Cue beautiful day with beaming sun.I'm gallivanting away, playing games, mingling (kinda have to cause I'm a bridesmaid) and just enjoying the weather. 5 hours later, my group of people decide to head home.

After a long drive (we lived about 3 hours away... I do live in Canada... it's a vast land, guys) I arrive home to my parents (who were unable to go with me and my brother) and head to bed because I was exhausted.

I wake up this morning and DEAR MOTHER OF GOD. I am BURNT. Unfortunately I was wearing a tank top so while my shoulders, chest and neck got burnt, I have very noticeable strap and neck line marks on my shoulders and chest. Basically, I look ridiculous. BUT, I will not let this burn win! The wedding is in 3 weeks and I am going to tan and make sure I get an even tan so I don't look like a doorknob.

Anyways, hope all you guys are having a good summer so far! I know I am!

Peace out!

Ukulele!

Hello people of the interwebs!

I have recently taken up the amazing hobby of playing the ukulele! I have named her Effie because she's made of mahogany (if you have seen The Hunger Games movies you'll get where I'm coming from). And I must say... I fricking love it! It's so easy to play! As of now, I know three songs off by heart: Flume, by Bon Iver, Skinny Love, by Bon Iver, and All I Want, by Kodaline.

As of now, my summer consists of playing the ukulele on my deck and singing my little heart out... It's quite relaxing!

Here is a picture of Effie (not taken by me, I got this off of Google Images, but it's exactly what she looks like).

Isn't she beautiful?!

Anyways, just thought I'd give you a quick update as to what I'm doing as of late.

Hope you enjoyed!

Peace out!

Changing It Up?

Hello people of the interwebs!!!

So, I figured that since my GWTG experiences are lacking as of late, why not post other stuff to my blog? After all, it is about me!

So, I will do things a little different around here starting here on in!

This blog:

My two guilty pleasure bands that I'm in love with.

Celtic Thunder and Kodaline.

Now, I LOVE The Lumineers, Bon Iver, Mumford & Sons, and Of Monsters of Men. However, I am not romantically interested in their members.

So, here are the two bands!

First up we have Kodaline! From left to right, the members are: Vinny May, Jason Boland, Steve Garrigan, and Mark Prendergrast... I love them all!

Second up, is Celtic Thunder! From left to right, the members are: Keith Harkin, Ryan Kelly, Neil Byrne, George Donaldson (RIP George, you will be missed <3), Colm Keegan and Emmet Cahill. From this list.... I love Keith, Colm, and Emmet... Apparently I have a thing for Irish men since both bands are from Ireland. c:

Ayways.  I have met a few members from Celtic Thunder! Three to be exact! Keith, Neil, and Emmet. They are lovely people, so kind and genuine! And super attractive... c: If you want to read about those experiences, click HERE!!!! :D

As for Kodaline, well, I'm going to be seeing them this fall! SO EXCITED!

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this little blog and learned a little bit about me!

Peace out!

Meeting the Celebrity Husband in Real Life!

Hello people of the interwebs!

It has come to my attention that I didn't post about my experience meeting Celtic Thunder's KEITH HARKIN, EMMET CAHILL, and NEIL BYRNE!

Some of you may or may not know, but I am smitten with Keith... For four years now! And what a wonderful four years it's been!

So! It was September of grade 12 (2012). I was armed with my best friend, Krystina, my brother, Peter, and my cousin, Sara. Me and Krystina had spent the WHOLE day getting ready to look good for this concert. There are more older people than younger and considering Celtic Thunder is made up (mostly) of young men, we decided we should look as pretty as possible.

*Side note: Krystina is in love with Emmet. I'm in love with Keith and Colm... At that time it was just Keith for me though :)

We were in the show, singing our hearts out, cheering like maniacs, you know, giving a proper show of fangirls in their element. Then it happened. Keith tweeted that he would be in the venue's main lobby signing copies of his brand new CD after the show! JACK POT. So, the show progressed, the lads finished their concert, and we ran out to see Keith.

After a very short line up (like I said, we ran out), I met the man of my dreams. All that was between us was a counter. Oh. My. Goodness. I'm pretty sure my heart stopped. In case you would like a picture to help you imagine the scene, I've inserted his beautiful face onto my post.----------------------------->

Anyways. I walk up to him and hand him my CD with trembling hands. He looks up, says hi (Irish accent, guys) and asks for my name. I'm in lala land at this point so I have a moment of "What the hell is my name?" Luckily, I remembered before it got to be awkward and said, "Elaine." then remembered that most people don't know how to spell my name and added, "E-L-A-I-N-E". Now, I was an awkward, pubescent, teenage girl, so I did the only thing us girls know how to do... I said an awkward good-bye statement, "Thank you... You made my year."

Here's me with the lovely man himself! Don't mind my brother :)

Anyways... That was an amazing experience in itself. Me and Krystina are freaking out, close to hyperventilating when Neil fricken Byrne comes out of the dressing rooms. My brother, being the cool, charismatic person he is says, "Hey Neil, how's it going?" to which in turn Neil replies, "I'm good bud, yourself?" Que jaw drops from me and Krystina! Thankfully, we got him to sign our poster (which we slaved over for MONTHS) and Krystina even got a picture with him!

Finally, we had our dreams completed and were set to go home. :)

Fast forward one year later! It's 2013, me and Krystina are in our victory lap year of high school. And now, I'm armed with Krystina, Peter, my cousin, Sara, her fiancé, Josh, and my cousin, Megan! We are in full blown fangirl mode and we are determined for Krystina to meet Emmet.

Well don't ya know, Keith AND Emmet come out after the show to sign stuff for people! SCORE! So, we line up, posters & phone cases at the ready, and we wait. And wait. And wait. Until finally! We reach them! Keith is his never-ending glory and Emmet with his boyish charm. Krystina literally started shaking and I wasn't too far behind her! I got my stuff signed by Keith after giving him a present (made him three bracelets with the colours of the Irish flag) and then proceeded to get passed down to Emmet. Now... my poster said "KEITH" with a heart on it, so Emmet looked up at me and looked unsure of what to do. Really, Mr. Cahill, do you think I'd ever not want your autograph?! So I said, "I'd love to have you sign it too!" so he smiled and did so happily.

Then Krystina's turn. Oh goodness. She goes up and gives him a bracelet she had made him. It said his freaking name in it! It was awesome! So he thanks her and gives her a wink and then we stepped away. What Emmet doesn't know is, his wink set Krystina's heart into palpitations (figuratively speaking) and we started jumping up and down (yes, to 17 year old girls, in the middle of a crowded venue... We have no shame).

That night we didn't sleep. It was a blur. The next morning we had school so that was a bit rough. However, we got to show off our new trophies to our friends and teachers!

Needless to say, meeting Keith, Emmet and Neil was the best experience any of us ever had.

I hope you enjoyed this post and learned a little bit about my crazy fangirl side!

Thanks for reading! :D

Short Story: Part 6 ~ FINAL

Doves circled around their little house, crooning the tune over and over for the family, all creating harmony and all the while healing. The birds continued to sing until the family at last retired for the night. The little doves had done their job. They had comforted two loving parents and a caring sister, and with that flew away.
When the family woke up in the morning, the house’s oppressive feeling had vanished and the feeling of happiness had overcome everyone. Lillian even sang a song while cleaning, David tended to his garden, and their little girl was able to see her parents happy again. For her, that was all that ever mattered.
After that night, the family never once mourned again the loss of dear Eliza. Of course they were sad and missed her on special occasions. However, instead of weeping and despairing as they did before, they celebrated and reminisced about their little Eliza and the life she had lived.
As the little girl grew up, she made sure to write her feelings down in a diary, good or bad, new or old. She especially wrote the occurrences of that night in her diary. To this day, the diary still exists. You see, this diary was passed down to each generation, and no one did anything with it. That is, however, until I received it from my grandmother. She told me to keep it safe and make sure to read it every day, and I do. I wake up and read an excerpt from the diary. Today though, I read an entry that I was very intrigued by. I was so intrigued in fact, I thought I had to write a story on what actually happened that night, as well as the days leading up to it. Here is the excerpt that compelled me to write this story:
“I still remember the day it happened; everything went so terribly wrong that afternoon! I broke mama’s heart, and shattered my own.
Both mother and I wept all afternoon, and I don’t think either of us realized that father had come home. I still didn’t until I banged on Eliza’s door and he came running out to see what was wrong. If I hadn’t heard that strange sound, maybe things would still be the same way they were earlier that day.
I can still remember father’s face when he broke the door down and saw all the doves in the room surrounding Eliza’s last picture. He seemed so tranquil, as if he knew, like we all do, that Eliza was safe and in God’s hands. Then, when all the doves were singing the tune that was Eliza’s favourite song everything felt like a dream!
Sometimes, I worry that it was all a dream, and that we aren’t really happy again. Sometimes I wonder why the doves saved our family that night. I wonder how it all happened. It’s just a huge mystery. Mother and I often talk about that day, laughing at our dramatic argument, crying over our grief. We converse for hours, remembering all the little details like Eliza’s smashed picture, the doves surrounding it and the melody, that still remains in our hearts to this day, that was sung. The only thing is I remember closing the window each time I left Eliza’s room. I wouldn’t have otherwise, except that if the window was left open and the bedroom door was closed, the door would jam. So I only have one question? If I didn’t open the window, who did? ”
I’ve reread the diary multiple times throughout my time of owning it. It’s just as magical as the first time, but it becomes more mysterious. Throughout her entries, I’ve noted that she lists each and every time she opens and closes the window. So logic would tell me that when the special dove entered her sisters’ room the window should have been shut. I’ve also asked others what they think. Most respond with, “It all started when someone opened the bedroom window.”  And I agree with them, but who was it that opened the window in the third floor bedroom?

Oh Goodness... Long Time No Blog & GWTG Stories!!!

Hello people of the interwebs!

It has been a VERY long time since I've updated you guys! SO, let the games begin!

First things first, I have been accepted to university and will be attending this fall (yay!). So wooo! That being said, I will still make time for this blog. I have decided to keep going and writing as often as possible... It's been way too long.

Anywho. I do have a GWTG story for you! Actually, I have a few! But those will be separate posts to keep you guys waiting and  in suspense.

So, without further ado, my story!

I was at work (no longer working as I needed a break before going to uni cause it's gonna be stressful!) and  happily helping customers with their needs. I worked at a plus sized clothing store (yes, I am plus sized. A size 14 to be exact... with a large chest... So I look older than 18), so I was joyfully parading around in my new outfit that I had bought for my birthday. I was checking in on a few customers that had just walked in when a lady commented on how much she liked my shirt. Now, my shirt was a strapless, black, all sequin top, very pretty! Seeing as it was winter though and I live in the North Pole, I had a little black camisole over it.

But I digress. I thanked her and said, "I got it for my birthday actually! I wanted to get something fun." No word of a lie she says, "Ha! 35 again, eh?" Now, let me set some things straight. I am aware that I look older than 18. Usually people say 22-25. It's my chest. I know. But 35?! What the heck?! So, I did what any sales associate could do. I laughed and said, "Well actually, I just turned 18." As my loyal readers, you know that I blush like crazy! So I was pretty red when I said this. The poor lady looks mortified and says, "I am so sorry." and walks away. Face went redder and my eyes started to water. It wasn't even that I was that offended; just embarrassed by the whole exchange.

Anywho... Now you know my troubles.

I've posted a picture below of myself. Let me know how old you would say I am if I didn't tell you! But don't say 35... I might have to hurt you.

If you want to know why there is an eggplant with a face beside me, read THIS blog!

Anyways! See ya later alligators!
